Crisis Communications

Crisis Communications

How to communicate quickly, clearly and confidently during a crisis

All organisations face crises from time to time, yet few are adequately prepared for them. This jeopardizes your reputation, which can take years to build and just minutes to lose.

Goal

In this workshop, we’ll draft a tailor-made crisis communication plan to make sure you’re ready for any crisis that hits your organisation. If you already have such a plan, we’ll review it line by line and suggest changes if necessary.

Through a series of interactive exercises and role-plays, we’ll equip you with the tools you need to handle the most stressful situations effectively.

Programme

  • Preparedness: planning to deal with a crisis calmly and confidently.
  • Process: making sure everyone knows who does what, when and how.
  • Principles: key principles to guide responses to crises.
  • People: who is in the crisis team and which key allies to work with.
  • Internal communication in a crisis: agreeing key messages, briefing spokespeople, drafting FAQs.
  • External communication in a crisis: handling journalists, social media and other stakeholders.
  • Keeping abreast, or ahead, of news in real time.
  • Ways of turning a crisis into an opportunity.
