Paul is a senior consultant, journalist and trainer with over 25 years of experience advising a wide range of clients on how to tell their story.

He has advised some of the best-known technology companies in the world and has provided media training to senior staff in most of the EU institutions, including the European Commission, the European External Action Service and the Council of the EU. He has also given effective written English training to NGOs, political parties, trade associations and corporations.

Most of his 25+ years as a full-time news reporter were spent covering EU affairs. For seven of them he worked as the New York Times’ Brussels correspondent, covering topics including macro-economics, trade, antitrust and politics. He was also a reporter for Dow Jones newswires and has written for The Guardian, The Sunday Times and USA Today.

Paul returned to journalism in 2021, writing features, taking photos and copy-editing for the Brussels Times Magazine. He is also a published poet, exhibits his photos regularly, cooks for refugees and is a composer and performing musician.
